Sawiris Foundation for Social Development is one of the impactful grant-making foundations in social development in Egypt. Founded in 2001, by an endowment from the Sawiris family to fund social development projects and entities. Sawiris Foundation works on the most-pressing developmental causes in Egypt such as health, education, professional and vocational trainings as well as scholarships and micro-projects funding.
Bank of Alexandria is one of Egypt’s leading private sector Banks and participated in Intesa Sanpaolo group since 2007. Alex Bank takes a huge part in social development in Egypt through a strong CSR department that works with civil society organizations on different national issues from which: Health, Education, Culture and heritage and, Environment and Energy.
Drosos Foundation was founded in 2003 in Zurich and started operating in Egypt since 2003. Drosos mission is to enable disadvantaged children and young people to take control of their lives and make a positive contribution to their community. Drosos works through two main axes: promoting creative skills to enhance personal development and promoting economic independence to ease out integration into society. Drosos funds “Sawaseya” project in Banati which helps children at risk’s reintegration into society through vocational and rehabilitative trainings that work on creating potential income generating projects and gaining self-confidence and social skills.
Samusocial International is a French non-governmental organization registered in Egypt and works with children in street situations. Through two Mobile Units, Samusocial reaches out to underprivileged children and provides them with medical help and care needed. Samusocial provides Banati with the following services: frequent medical check-ups and follow-ups for the girls and young mothers in Banati, occasional medical trainings for Banati’s staff members and financial support in maintaining Banati’s operations in the Reception Center.
Plan International is an international nongovernmental organization established in 1937 with the aim of protecting and promoting child’s rights. Plan International started its operations in Egypt in 1981 and works constantly on the betterment of children’s lives in Egypt. Plan International funds Banati’s project for protection and reinforcement of children’s rights through social and psychological sessions to the hosted children and their families, application of children’s protection policy, children’s personal development, organizing trips for leisure, accommodation and clothes, marriage, and accommodation for young women, covering employees’ salaries.
Since 2007 the National Bank of Kuwait has left many prints in the CSR sector. The National Bank of Kuwait funds Banati in establishing and equipping a new wing in the shelter to host 24 boys currently hosted in the permanent shelter.
